rambling

A rambling of my morning thoughts and opinions. On X, I’ve been watching all the quotes from Pritzker on Elon. It’s like he’s trying to attack Musk while keeping himself looking squeaky clean. And you know what? Publicly, he’s pulled it off. He hasn’t made that move his party and allies keep getting called out for (if you have proof, feel free to send it my way). But then I remembered some past issues of his, and suddenly things started to make a lot more sense.
Take nuEra Cannabis, Prairie Cannabis, or anything else they are involved with, for example. JB’s state regulators bending the rules to protect them is wild. In my opinion, emails suggest regulators have broken their own rules to protect them, even at the risk of the state’s integrity. Think about that: risking the state’s integrity for one company. Why? (this is already filed with federal regulators, FYI.)
nuEra has been accused with evidence of some pretty serious things:
Paying to block minorities from getting licenses, ensuring monopolies grow. Fraud, conspiracy, breach of contract, and that’s just in court. Add federal regulators, and the list reads like a Theranos-level playbook of unethical missteps. Exploiting a Black veteran to delay social equity progress, twisting the system for corporate gain. It’s alleged they intended to use this chaos for attack ads against JB. (https://lnkd.in/geggypmy)
My initial thought? “Typical political cronyism” But then I came across an NBC article(https://lnkd.in/gtCjxBTw) about the Pritzker-Blagojevich wiretaps. That’s when I remembered Pritzker suggesting they replace one Black leader with someone he called “safe.”
That word safe really sticks with me. In my opinion, it reflects a larger pattern: power being preserved at the expense of communities that were supposed to benefit. And now, in cannabis, it feels like the same story. nuEra keeps skating by like nothing’s wrong getting licenses, hiding ownership, and leaving minority-owned businesses in the dust.
So, is this just about protecting financial interests, or is there a deeper agenda? Either way, it’s clear to me that social equity was never the priority here, it’s just a slogan. Pritzker will fight the President and the whole federal system to protect migrants but appears to prioritize certain issues and communities over others, like the Black community.
If this wasn’t real life, I’d say it feels like the perfect setup to turn the whole state red, destroy political dynasties, and tank the reputations of whatever investors, allies, or companies got involved. At this point, it’s looking less like leadership and more like a wiretap sequel.
Am I “safe” for your dynasty, JB?
One thing’s for sure, this is going to make a wildly profitable movie one day. Can’t wait to see who gets cast to play me but until then, challenge accepted, I’ll play myself on F'nAround. Tune in at fnaround.com.
