illinois flower

Illinois Politics, Where Corruption is the State Flower. Rod Blagojevich went on Joe Rogan’s show to spill tea about Illinois government, corruption, and his own scandal. Honestly, Illinois politics is a mix of legal drama, power plays, and enough ego to rival a reality TV show. James and I joke about this almost every weekday morning on F'nAround in the Morning—because let’s be real, Illinois politics is like watching a never-ending soap opera… but with worse writing.

Blagojevich’s take? He says he was just playing the same game as everyone else, but somehow he’s the one who got benched. Whether you see him as a martyr for “political negotiations” or the reason we can’t have nice things, one thing’s clear: Illinois has a corruption problem.

And yet, we keep electing these people. So… what’s the real scandal here?

If Illinois politicians spent half as much energy solving real problems as they do dodging indictments and covering up scandals, the state might actually balance a budget. (Spoiler alert: They don’t.)

Some morning questions for you:
Can Illinois ever reform, or is corruption just baked into the Chicago deep dish?
Do we need real accountability, or are we just giving politicians more creative ways to fail upward?
Who watches the Watchmen?

Feel free to jump in—just don’t try to “sell” me a Senate seat. I’m not buying. But if you do, I might come after yours…
