What a start to the week for cannabis! The industry is a whirlwind of breakthroughs and blunders. Missouri’s raising a glass to THC soda, DoorDash is delivering infused snacks, and Asia’s leading the charge in medicinal cannabis. Meanwhile, GTI had us all dreaming of dispensaries next to Circle K, until that deal fizzled like flat soda. In Virginia and Minnesota, public comment periods are underway, though it’s hard to tell if they’re shaping policy or just serving as theatrical distractions.
The DEA delayed their rescheduling hearing (again), New York’s zoning rules are still a choose-your-own-adventure, and Chicago is now selling hemp THC products at the Salt Shed. And food for thought, what happened to Diddy’s almost-deal with Cresco and Columbia Care? How did that negotiation fizzle out without the usual private parties? I’d love to see those discovery files someday.
You know we enjoy breaking this all down on F'nAround in the morning or interviewing great guests and shooting the shit on the F'nAround Podcast!
By the way, isn’t it ironic that, based on the ARDC’s own timeline guidelines, the hardest regulatory body to even get an investigation started with seems to be moving faster than Illinois or Michigan? Doesn't it make you wonder what texts and emails will produce? Most complaints don’t make it past the first two weeks, but if they do, the odds of action jump dramatically. Now consider the SEC, if they’ve got everything the ARDC has, and a lot more, it’s looking less like a question of “if” and more like “when.” Oh, and if anyone wants evidence from the timeline I’ve shared, just ask anyone on my team to coordinate any public record evidence or filing you’re curious about. I believe in transparency, and this industry desperately needs it. As always, I’ll keep it transparent while some of you wait and see.
For the rest of you, that don't want to wait there is fnaround.com
