delta 8 gas
Delta-8 THC, the gas station MVP and small business savior, has been running the streets without regulation. Sure, a couple of mislabeled or misleading products have caused some accidental gummy adventures for kids. But instead of addressing those directly, Governor JB Pritzker is swinging a sledgehammer at the entire $500M hashtag#hemp industry. Their proposed crackdown would make selling Delta-8 harder than finding Delta-9 on a dispensary shelf—at three times the price. Classic Illinois: why fix the actual problem when you can just crush the competition instead?
Let’s be real here. I got drunk in high school on gas station 40s. Puked my guts out—me and half my friends. Did anyone care? Did the liquor industry face this level of scrutiny? Nope, just a slap on the wrist and some “drink responsibly” ads. But now, Delta-8 steps in as a real competitor to Big hashtag#Cannabis, and suddenly, it’s all “Think of the children!” Funny how that works when somebody’s in someone else’s pocket and needs help with their bottom line. Didn’t they say hemp and weed is safer than hashtag#Alcohol? What are the death and overdose comparisons? Please enlighten me to this vast discrepancy in reactions!
Here’s some data to back it up:
• Illinois’ hemp industry: $500 million annually
• Delta-8’s national value: $2 billion
• The state’s proposed “fix”? Crank up regulations to push small operators out and clear the way for corporate interests. Seems like Illinois being gutted hurts the entire Hemp industry in this country…
What about the kids, though? If this is really about protecting them, where are the public education campaigns? The affordable testing programs? The stricter hashtag#marketing rules for bad actors? Nope, instead Illinois is gutting small farmers and hashtag#entrepreneurs who’ve been hustling to make a living.
Imagine running a marathon and getting tackled at the finish line by the ref. That’s exactly what this feels like for local hemp producers.
So, Illinois, what’s the actual plan here? Protect the public or just help Big Cannabis corner the market? If it’s the latter, just admit it.
And don’t miss F'nAround in the morning this morning on WURE-FM Underground Memphis Radio —we’re diving into the case of the “cash-for-kids” judge. Because if the State of Illinois really cared about protecting children, like James and I do, they’d be up in arms over a judge who sold kids getting released, Pennsylvania was. Funny how selective outrage works, huh?

Are you beginning to wonder as well why no state regulator has reacted to any of my posts or regulatory filings with public evidence about nuEra Cannabis?
