As I continue to dive deeper into industry conversations with the F'nAround team, the response we receive remains a constant—no surprise, just resigned nods. This isn’t just business as usual; it’s a pervasive issue demanding urgent reform. Khadijah Tribble’s recent lawsuit against Curaleaf details her dismissal after confronting egregious disparities: a hostile work environment steeped in racial and sexual discrimination, and significant pay inequities compared to her white male counterparts. These allegations highlight a systemic disregard for diversity and inclusion within the company.
Her courage to challenge these practices echoes disturbing elements I’ve witnessed personally. In an executive meeting, a leader made a shocking comment about transgender support: “How much would he want to get a set of tits so we can get the tranny support?” This is not isolated humor but a reflection of deeper, systemic issues we’re all too familiar with.
…As we call out and confront the shadows within the industry, I’ve been warned that my forthrightness might just burn down the old ways on one hand, and on the other no one can change the way it’s done. Which one is it, We cant change a thing or we’ll change too much? Maybe you should make up your minds… If speaking the truth is what it takes to shed light where it’s needed most, since the ones who are supposed to aren’t, then let the flames of change be sparked. Together, we can illuminate a path toward a more ethical and transparent industry.
This weekend we are starting our segment at F'nAround, in discussion with the Cannabis Equity IL Coalition, to address and demand significant change while educating the listeners on the reality of the plant. It’s high time the marijuana industry reflects true values of respect and equality. We cannot remain silent enablers but must be active voices for change.
Tune into FnAround.com where we amplify these discussions and strive to make a difference starting in this industry.
