collab

I was sent the J. P. GRAZIANO GROCERY CO., INC. and nuEra Cannabis collab by a few people who remembered my stance: if anyone supports, hides, does work with, or aligns with unethical companies, I’ll call it out. They were curious how I’d handle this situation with a brand I genuinely like and support. So, naturally, I had to turn to SNL to find the right response.

You know that NBCUniversal SNL bit where Pete Davidson joked about R. Kelly’s album, saying, “If you want to listen to their music, you have to admit they are bad people”? That’s exactly how I feel seeing J.P. Graziano—a place I’ve supported for years—partner with nuEra Cannabis. It’s like saying, “Yeah, this sandwich is amazing, but I’m also supporting a collab that’s tied to some shady ethics.” Isn’t it funny how I’m allowed to still speak? I guess that’s what happens when you have the receipts and stand as an advocate of truth.

I’m all for good food, but not when it comes with a side of overlooking accountability. Business partnerships aren’t just flavor pairings; they’re endorsements. When you team up with a company that dodges transparency and ethics, it’s like saying, “Enjoy this, but remember, you’re supporting more than just the taste.”

Ethics shouldn’t come with disclaimers. Supporting integrity should be as straightforward as ordering lunch. But when companies mix in partnerships like this, well… let’s just say I’d rather not have to “admit they are bad people” every time I grab a bite.

But if you love the food as much as I do, consider donating a dollar each time you buy something to support Cannabis Equity IL Coalition: https://lnkd.in/gAedBszr.

Tune into F'nAround, where we expose unethical practices across corporate America, starting with cannabis. Stay tuned for our new morning show, where James from 312ALL and I tackle the biggest ethical issues across every industry. Plus, we’ve got plenty of appearances lined up this weekend and beyond in other states as well—we can’t wait to connect with everyone. Who knows, maybe we’ll get you on record too?

Sorry, Jim —your food is amazing, but as G-Eazy said, “You know if I say something, I mean it.”
