Connecticut
Big news, everyone! The feds are forming cannabis banking focus groups, Kentucky’s handing out medical dispensary licenses like raffle prizes, and Connecticut is tweaking its hemp and cannabis laws for 2025. This is progress, apparently.
Cannabis Banking Focus Groups, oh, great, the feds are finally “studying” the problem we’ve all been screaming about since Blockbuster was still a thing. Can’t wait to see what the focus group geniuses come up with, how about we let them deposit money, but only in cash and only after writing an essay about why they love banking? Meanwhile, Steve from accounting is still guarding cash mountains with a vape in one hand and a can of Monster in the other. Groundbreaking stuff, guys.
Kentucky’s giving out medical cannabis dispensary licenses in what appears to be a cross between a Hunger Games reaping and bingo night at the local VFW. If you win, congrats! Now enjoy complying with a thousand rules no one understands while your local dealer keeps thriving with zero paperwork.
Connecticut is updating its hemp and cannabis laws for 2025, which is exciting if you enjoy watching bureaucrats argue over whether Delta-8 is a hemp product or Satan’s chew toy. Wake me up when they figure out how to price THC products without requiring a second mortgage.
Basically, the feds are holding focus groups on our dime, Kentucky’s running a raffle, and Connecticut is… well, Connecticut. Meanwhile, the legacy market is sitting back with a grin, watching all this chaos, and still winning.
And then there’s the bigger question, how hard is it to clean up the industry when allegedly you’re part of the problem? Focus groups and half-measures aren’t going to fix what’s broken when the same people cashing in on the system are the ones writing and overseeing the rules. If you want to stop the rot, maybe start by looking at the hands holding the mop.
You know I’m going to talk about it next week on F'nAround in the Morning: https://lnkd.in/gXQJuA4h
