story
As lawsuits, allegations of tax fraud, pesticide misuse, and shady remediation practices continue to pile up across the cannabis industry, one thing is becoming clear: states are struggling to hold corporations accountable.
From failing to enforce proper regulations to looking the other way when corporate giants push the boundaries, the cracks in the system are growing. Small operators and communities bear the brunt of these failures while corporations rake in profits unchecked.
The issues at the forefront are allegations of tax fraud that jeopardize state funding and public trust, The widespread use of pesticides and dangerous remediation techniques, compromising consumer safety, and states prioritizing revenue over transparency, fairness, and accountability.
The upcoming DEA meeting about rescheduling cannabis brings an opportunity for reform—but will it be enough? With states failing to properly manage oversight, it wouldn’t be shocking if the federal government stepped in to take control of cannabis oversight entirely. Think about it the Federal taxation could create a streamlined system, national standards for safety and compliance could address the patchwork of rules across states, and most importantly, accountability could finally become a non-negotiable standard.
But what do I know?
While we’re busy fighting over cannabis, revenues, and scheduling, people are locked away and forgotten in a system lost in time, needing a voice. Maybe it’s time to shift focus. For once, listen. Share the story of one person lost in this system, and see if you can find the one person who can help him like we are trying at F'nAround! James, Michael, Brittini, and I—through 312ALL, Timeless Wolf Productions, and Brittini and Company —are giving it everything we’ve got. Are you?”
