lab testing
Ah, the cannabis industry. You’d think now that it’s legal, we’d be puffing on clean, safe, lab-tested goodness, right? Wrong. Turns out, big weed is just as shady as any other industry. Didn't I touch on rigged labs months ago..... Moldy weed is being passed off as clean because the labs are in on it too. Yep, growers pay labs to test for contaminants like mold and yeast, but these labs seem to have a little secret: if they keep results just below the legal limit, everyone’s happy (well, except you).
See, if a lab actually fails too many samples, they lose business. And no one wants that! So, what do the big corporations do? They find labs that’ll give them the answer they want, not the truth. And let’s be real, there’s no incentive for these labs to expose the mold problem when the weed companies cutting their checks are the ones holding all the cards.
In places like Massachusetts, there’s been a suspicious pattern of results falling just under the legal threshold. Coincidence? I think not. Even better, one processing plant with a ridiculously low mold failure rate had an employee die of an asthma attack that a lawsuit claims was caused by—you guessed it—moldy cannabis dust. And what did that company get? A $350,000 fine. Corporate America’s way of saying, “Oops, but we’re still making money, so all good here!”
But hey, who cares about mold, right? I mean, what’s a little fungus between friends? Except, here’s the thing: inhaling mold can cause infections, dangerous immune responses, and even death. Yeah, that’s right. While you’re busy enjoying your weekend puff, they’re busy enjoying their corporate profits—at your expense.
The whole thing’s rigged. Corporate cannabis doesn’t care about your health; they care about the bottom line. It’s the same old story: craft cares, but corporate? They don’t give a damn. They’ll pass off moldy weed, slap a label on it, and laugh all the way to the bank.
So, the next time you spark up, maybe ask yourself: is this the craft cannabis that cares, or am I just another sucker in the corporate game? Hey, that's just my perception and opinion..... it's not like there is an article by Julie Wernau at The Wall Street Journal with quotes by Tess Eidem, PhD, PCQI...... https://lnkd.in/gfGqUiFW
